Adapted from the French film Intouchables (My Dear Friend), the Turkish film Yan Yanna has released its first trailer as it nears its release date. Starring Haluk Bilginer and Feyyaz Yiğit, the film will hit theaters on November 14th. The trailer also reveals many anticipated details about the film.
The first trailer for Yan Yanna has been released
The film, whose full title is “The Anatomy of an Abstract Expressionist Friendship, or Yan Yanna,” blends the genres of comedy and drama. Haluk Bilginer plays Refik, a wealthy man who becomes disabled, and Feyyaz Yiğit plays his caretaker, Ferruh. The story follows two people from different walks of life who gradually become close and form a friendship.
The original film, Intouchables, told the story of the unlikely friendship between a wealthy man paralyzed after a parachute accident and a young man with a criminal record. Yan Yanna will adapt a similar theme for Turkey and bring it to audiences. The story’s local elements, the characters’ language, and the dynamics between them remain faithful to the original script while simultaneously offering a fresh narrative style.
The film is directed by Mert Baykal, known for projects like Pardon and Kardeşim Benim. The screenplay was written by Feyyaz Yiğit, Aziz Kedi, and Mert Baykal. The production is the first domestic film to be shot using IMAX technology. Therefore, Yan Yana stands out as a remarkable production in Turkish cinema for both its story and technical infrastructure.
The cast includes Haluk Bilginer and Feyyaz Yiğit, as well as Bige Önal, Hatice Aslan, and Şevval Sam. Bilginer and Yiğit’s performances, which particularly bring the contrast between the characters to the stage, provide the first clues to the audience in the trailer. The film promises a balanced tone, with scenes blended with Feyyaz Yiğit’s humorous style, along with its emotional intensity.
Yan Yana, which will be released on November 14th, will also be shown in IMAX theaters. With its strong cast and familiar yet localized story, the film looks set to be one of the most notable local productions of the year.
