Anker, known for its portable chargers, has announced the recall of a total of 481,000 power bank models at risk of fire and explosion. According to a notice published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the lithium-ion batteries used in some models can overheat, posing a risk of ignition or explosion.
These Anker models are at risk
The company has officially recorded 33 incidents to date. Among these incidents, four users suffered minor burns, and one incident resulted in serious property damage. While Anker stated that the risk was “minimal,” it announced that it has initiated a voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.

The models affected by the recall are listed as follows:
- Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, 22.5W, Built-in USB-C Cable) – Model A1647
- Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh, 7.5W) – Model A1652
- Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) – Model A1257
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-in USB-C and Lightning Cable) – Model A1681
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-in USB-C Cable) – Model A1689
These devices were sold through various brick-and-mortar retailers and online sales channels between August 2023 and June 2025. Retail prices range from $30 to $50.
Anker urges users to check their product’s serial number on the official recall page. Owners of affected products can request a full refund or, instead, choose a gift card valid at Anker stores.
Anker has been in the news recently for similar issues. Last year, the company recalled 1.1 million PowerCore 1000 model power banks and 79,000 portable speakers due to security risks. While the new recall is limited to just five different models, a total of nearly half a million products are reportedly at risk.
