Apple recently released iOS 26.0.1. However, the next major update eagerly awaited by iPhone users will be iOS 26.1. Currently in beta, this version won’t be released publicly until very soon. Here’s the expected release date for iOS 26.1 and its potential innovations.
iOS 26.1 could be released on October 27
Apple generally follows a consistent schedule for software updates. For example, new iPhone models are released around the same time every September, while iOS updates are also released on specific cycles. These cycles also apply to version x.1.
The release dates for past iOS x.1 versions are as follows:

- iOS 17.1: Wednesday, October 25

Based on this data, iOS 26.1 is expected to be released at the end of October, likely around Monday, October 27, 2025. Of course, this date is an estimate based on past patterns; Apple may release the update a little earlier or later.
New Features Coming with iOS 26.1
iOS 26.0.1 included various bug fixes and minor improvements. However, Apple typically offers more comprehensive fixes in its x.1 updates. The key features of iOS 26.1 include:
