Onyx has unveiled official images of the Boox P6 Pro, confirming that its upcoming compact e-reader will come in both color and black-and-white E Ink variants.
Boox P6 Pro brings color E Ink and 5G

The Boox P6 Pro will officially debut on October 9. It follows the recent release of the Boox Note X5 Mini in China and is positioned as the next major entry in Onyx’s growing lineup of lightweight reading and writing devices.
Unlike the monochrome Note X5 Mini, the P6 Pro will be offered in two versions—one featuring a standard B&W E Ink display, and another boasting a color E Ink screen with stylus support.
Design builds on the Palma 2
Visually, the P6 Pro takes cues from the Boox Palma 2, with a compact build, thick bezels, and a single 16MP rear camera. However, the control layout has shifted, with volume buttons now located on the left side.
The new model adds a SIM card slot supporting 5G connectivity, letting users browse or sync files on the go. While that could technically allow phone calls, Onyx hasn’t confirmed voice functionality, suggesting the SIM is for data only.
Boox P6 Pro Color adds a stylus and stronger hardware
The color version isn’t just about visuals—it comes with upgraded internals too. Onyx has confirmed 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and stylus input for note-taking and annotation.
Here’s what we know so far about both versions:
- Two screen options: Color or B&W E Ink
- 5G connectivity with hybrid SIM/MicroSD tray
- 8GB RAM and 128GB storage on the color version
- 16MP rear camera
- Stylus support for writing and sketching
- October 9 launch in China
Expected pricing and competition
Onyx hasn’t announced pricing yet, but it’s expected to price the Boox P6 Pro Color below the $449 reMarkable Paper Pro Move, making it an affordable option for users seeking digital note-taking without the premium cost.
Global release still uncertain
Onyx showcased the P6 Pro at IFA last month and appears ready for an international debut, but the company hasn’t confirmed a worldwide release date yet. That said, given its expanded connectivity and color display, the Boox P6 Pro could easily become the company’s most versatile compact e-reader to date.
