Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 11 version 25H2 is now available for download on all eligible devices. Officially released on September 30th, but scheduled for a wider rollout the week of October 14th, the update reached all eligible computers as of October 16th.
Windows 11 25H2 update is live
While this version carries a new operating system version number, it is essentially based on the existing version 24H2. This means that Windows 11 24H2 users with the October 2025 Update already have access to most of the new features.
To install this latest version, users must have the “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” setting enabled. Microsoft stated that users of Pro and Home editions will receive the update automatically.

Windows 11 25H2 includes significant improvements, particularly for Copilot+ Artificial Intelligence (AI) computers. These improvements include Recall, Click to Do, and improved Windows Search.
Microsoft emphasizes that these improvements are critical because they reshape how users interact with Windows devices. These features are available on Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon, AMD, and Intel processors.
Additionally, some core Windows elements, such as the Taskbar, have received user interface and experience updates. The Taskbar offers improved icon resizing, richer previews, and a clock with a ticking clock.
There are also improved indicators and live status updates during file indexing. Widgets now support multiple dashboards, lock screen customization, and a redesigned Discover feed with text curated by Copilot. Users can personalize widgets and access summaries, videos, and images from trusted sources.
File Explorer has been added to curated views for Microsoft 365 content, context menu dividers, and new sharing options for Android devices. Sharing and editing images has been made easier through the Windows Share window.
Snap in Windows has received usability improvements with inline tips and keyboard shortcut guides when users interact with the Snap Bar or Snap menu. The redesigned Windows Settings homepage features top-tier cards for system information, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and organization-specific views.
Users can now manage AI model usage by third-party applications and access improved activation and printer renaming widgets.
