After introducing a number of new AI-powered features to Windows 11 devices, Microsoft has now introduced a cute AI character that users can talk to. All Windows 11 device users will be able to get help from this new character when learning or completing various tasks.
Copilot’s New Face: Vibrant, Colorful, and Customizable “Mico”
Microsoft announced that it has given its AI-powered assistant, Copilot, a face. This new character, called Mico, appears when Copilot’s Voice Mode is used. Mico is designed as a colorful, animated bubble that responds in real time.
Microsoft aims for Mico to be expressive, warm, and, most importantly, customizable. It responds not only with its voice but also with animations, colors, and expressions, allowing users to feel like they’re talking to a friend. Microsoft believes that Mico’s adaptability to the user will increase Copilot’s usage.
Mico supports over 40 languages. According to a surprise egg discovered by user X @testingcatalog, Mico temporarily transforms into the iconic Clippy character when touched repeatedly.
Mico works similarly to Google’s Gemini Live feature, meaning it can see what you see on the screen and hear what you say. Users can speak to Mico in natural language and get help with a variety of tasks, including getting information from the web, controlling applications on their computer, drafting emails, getting advice, and automating various tasks.
Microsoft is turning on this feature by default for devices running Windows 11 in the US. However, users will have the option to turn off this adorable character if they don’t like it.
