Apple is preparing to introduce CarPlay video support with an update. This new feature, discovered in iOS 26 Beta 5, will allow users to mirror video apps from their iPhones directly to the car’s screen while their vehicle is parked.
How will the new CarPlay video feature work?
This new feature, called Video in the Car, will have strict safety regulations. Users will only be able to play videos when their vehicle is in Park (P). When the vehicle starts moving or is placed in Drive (D), the video will automatically stop, and an on-screen warning will appear.

This feature is expected to initially support the Apple TV+ app. It is also reported that other third-party apps in the “TV & Video” category, such as Hulu, Max, Peacock, and Tubi, will also work. Experts predict that popular platforms like YouTube and Netflix will also offer this support in the future.
Simply updating your iPhone to iOS 26 won’t be enough to use this feature. The most significant restriction is that automakers must support this video playback functionality. It remains unclear when automakers will roll out this update to their vehicles.
