Apple’s affordable iPhone 17e, expected to be unveiled in spring 2026, will spark discussion in the tech world by featuring a 60Hz display. While the standard model will switch to 120Hz this year, the cheapest model is expected to continue using this panel, which has been described as “outdated.”
iPhone 17e’s 60Hz display will be disappointing
According to a report by reliable leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is taking this step to keep costs down. This means the iPhone 17e will essentially share the same display panel as the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and iPhone 16. In contrast, the standard iPhone 17 model finally received a 120Hz ProMotion display.

While the screen refresh rate is disappointing, the iPhone 17e will feature a significant design change. The device will feature Dynamic Island, Apple’s interactive pill-shaped notification area. Thus, the iPhone 16e is expected to be the last model with a non-functional, flat notch.
Beyond the display and design, some of the iPhone 17e’s technical specifications have also been leaked. The device is expected to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera, an 18-megapixel front camera, the next-generation Apple A19 chip, and a glass back panel. It’s also been stated that it will support Apple Intelligence features, expected to be available with iOS 26.1 in Turkey.
