Acclaimed director Guy Ritchie and action film sensation Jason Statham are adding a new dimension to their long-standing collaboration. The duo, which began nearly thirty years ago and has spawned five projects including Snatch, Revolver, and Wrath of Man, are now reuniting for their sixth film. Jason Statham stars in Ritchie’s new film, Viva La Madness, which he will direct.

Viva La Madness will be adapted from author J.J. Connolly’s novel of the same name. This novel is essentially a sequel to the 2004 film Layer Cake. However, it’s been reported that this new adaptation, directed by Guy Ritchie, will not be a direct sequel to Layer Cake but rather a standalone film.

Filming for the film, which blends action and thriller genres, is scheduled to begin in January. While Jason Statham is currently the only actor announced in the cast, casting is expected to begin very soon to meet the filming schedule.

J.J. Connolly’s novel, which serves as the basis for the novel, is set in London and centers on a drug dealer known only as X. Similar to Layer Cake, Viva La Madness tells the story of an underworld rife with drugs, sex, and crime.
