Apple is revitalizing Siri with Apple Intelligence, which it unveiled at WWDC 2024. However, according to reports by Mark Gurman, these revolutionary innovations will take time to reach full capacity. The completely redesigned Siri isn’t expected until 2026.
Why is the 2026 version of the new Siri being delayed?
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the Siri Apple unveiled at WWDC is essentially a temporary version based on older technology. The company is using large language models (LLMs) to fundamentally rebuild Siri. This process requires deep integration of Apple Intelligence with operating systems, which is why the process is taking longer than expected to complete.

Apple will offer users a gradual transition. Siri, arriving this year with iOS 18, will feature a new interface and some core Apple Intelligence features. For example, it will be able to understand on-screen context. However, the actual AI capabilities won’t be fully available until 2025.
Apple’s ultimate vision, which it calls “proactive Siri,” will arrive in 2026. This version will be an assistant that can understand personal context on the device by leveraging the full power of Apple Intelligence. Gurman notes that this version will likely launch alongside iOS 20. In short, what we saw at WWDC was just a preview.
