As Xiaomi has begun rolling out the highly anticipated HyperOS 3 update globally, all eyes are already on the next interim release, HyperOS 3.1. However, with this exciting news comes some bad news: The new interim update won’t reach all devices. Xiaomi has shared a list of approximately 20 models that will not receive the update.
Why Won’t They Get HyperOS 3.1?
Xiaomi is limiting the base of the HyperOS 3.1 update to the next Android version, Android 16. HyperOS 3.1 will only be available to smartphones and tablets that receive the Android 16 update. This means that older models that received the HyperOS 3 custom interface along with Android 15 will miss out on HyperOS 3.1.
While registration for the HyperOS 3.1 beta program has begun in Xiaomi’s home market of China, some popular devices will unfortunately be unable to experience these innovations. HyperOS 3.1 comes with several key features aimed at improving the user experience.

Hyper Island, inspired by Apple’s Dynamic Island feature, will be included in this release. The updated recent apps drawer will operate more efficiently with refined memory management. Overall performance gains, including improvements to animations and faster app launch times, are expected.
