The Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is back from the brink. Just weeks ago, insiders were calling it dead. Now? It’s not only alive, it’s leaked. Renders based on early specs show a familiar shape with one standout change: a new camera island that sets it apart from its predecessor.
Galaxy S26 Plus defies cancellation rumors

Earlier reports suggested Samsung was replacing the mid-sized Plus model with a new Edge variant. That narrative has flipped. According to fresh leaks from OnLeaks via Android Headlines, the Galaxy S26 Plus is now firmly back in the lineup. Meanwhile, the rumored S26 Edge appears to have been shelved—at least for now.
Instead of the wide camera bar teased for the Edge, the S26 Plus features a compact island beneath the triple-lens setup. The design echoes leaked visuals of the now-doubtful S26 Pro and S26 Ultra, suggesting Samsung may be unifying its camera layout language.
Samsung’s S26 lineup reshuffles again
The S-series roadmap has been anything but stable. At one point, Samsung was reportedly prepping a full refresh with a sleek Edge, a smaller Pro, and a larger Ultra. Now, the lineup looks more conventional.
- Pro model appears to be out
- Edge model seems cancelled or delayed
- S26 Plus returns as the middle option
- S26 Ultra remains expected as the flagship
According to the latest leak, the S26 Plus measures 7.35mm thick, nearly identical to the S25 Plus. That clearly distances it from the ultra-thin S25 Edge (5.8mm), reinforcing that this isn’t just a slim phone with a new label.
Hints of another Edge still linger
Thin phone fans shouldn’t give up hope just yet. Galaxy Club, a Dutch Samsung fan site, reported last month that another device codenamed “More Slim” is in development. This could be a successor to the S25 Edge, possibly launching later in the cycle as a separate product.
Of course, all eyes are now on early 2026, when Samsung is expected to officially unveil the S26 series. Whether the “Edge” name lives on—or fades into prototype purgatory—might depend on how this round of reshuffling lands with users. For now, the Galaxy S26 Plus looks locked in and ready to return to the stage.
