Previous reports indicated that Huawei would announce the Mate 80 series and its foldable phone, the Mate X7, in China this month, while the Nova 15 series would arrive in December. However, new information suggests that the Nova 15 series will not be released this year.
Premium Series Prioritized: Nova 15 Launch Delayed
According to a Chinese tech blogger, Huawei’s flagship Mate series (the Mate 80 and Mate X7 foldable phone) are ready for launch. However, the same source stated that a December launch of the Nova 15 series is unlikely.

This revised timeline suggests that the company is prioritizing its resources to ensure sufficient production capacity and promotional support for the Mate series, which remains its core premium line. This potential delay for the Nova series could also be due to supply chain adjustments and overall product planning optimization.
Despite the rumors of a delay, the Nova 15 series is expected to offer quite ambitious features, particularly with the Nova 15 Ultra, the top-of-the-line model. Here are some key leaked features about the Nova 15 Ultra:
- Main Camera: 50MP main camera supported by a large 1/1.3-inch sensor.
- Telephoto: 50MP periscope telephoto camera (this feature was available on the previous model, the Nova 14 Ultra).
- Other Cameras: 13MP ultra-wide lens and a dedicated multispectral sensor.
- Processor and Software: Expected to feature a Kirin chipset and run on HarmonyOS 6.
- Battery: 6,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.
- Additional Features: Premium features like satellite connectivity, a metal mid-frame, and IP68/69 dust and water resistance.
The series was expected to include other models like the Huawei Nova 15 and Nova 15 Pro in addition to the Ultra model. However, for now, all eyes are on the November launch of the Mate 80 and Mate X7, which have become Huawei’s focus.
