Toyota has kicked off production of the Aygo X Hybrid at its Kolin plant in Czechia, adding a full hybrid to the A-segment for the first time. The car joins a lineup that’s been expanding its electrified options, but this one’s aimed squarely at urban drivers who want efficiency without going fully electric.

Toyota says the Aygo X Hybrid offers the lowest CO₂ output of any non-plug-in vehicle on the market. That claim positions it as a smart option for city drivers who want cleaner transport without charging hassles. It’s also a milestone the first full hybrid in the A-segment, now giving small cars a proper electrified edge.
Aygo X Hybrid production transforms the Kolin plant
The TMMCZ facility in Kolin, where Aygo models have been built since 2005, has undergone a massive upgrade to support this launch. With €680 million in investment, the site is being expanded from 152,000 to over 173,000 square meters.
Alongside the Aygo X Hybrid rollout, the factory is being prepped for something bigger: full BEV production starting in 2026.
Toyota commits to dual-path electrification
Rather than betting everything on battery-electric, Toyota is doubling down on its multi-path approach. That means hybrids, plug-ins, and full EVs all built under one roof. The upcoming BEV will include integrated battery systems and marks a key moment in Toyota’s broader emissions strategy.
