The camera specifications of Xiaomi’s highly anticipated flagship phone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, have been leaked. According to new information, Xiaomi is abandoning the quad-camera system of its previous models and switching to a more powerful triple-lens setup. The most striking feature of this new camera set-up is Samsung’s as-yet-unannounced 200-megapixel (MP) HPE telephoto sensor.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra to Come with a 200MP Telephoto Camera
Leaked details indicate that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will utilize three different sensors in its rear camera setup. The main camera consists of a 50MP OVX10500U sensor. The telephoto camera is powered by a 200MP S5KHPE sensor. The ultra-wide-angle camera will be either a 50MP OV50M or a 50MP S5KJN5 sensor. On the front, there’s a 50MP OV50M camera.

The current Xiaomi 15 Ultra model featured a quad-camera setup with two zoom lenses. However, new leaks and images of the phone’s photo kit accessories suggest that Xiaomi has abandoned a sensor for this new model.
Samsung Semiconductor has not yet officially announced this powerful ISOCELL HPE camera. This suggests it’s a version developed specifically for Xiaomi phones. The company previously announced a camera sensor developed in collaboration with Vivo.
Technical details of the new 200MP HPE sensor have also been revealed. This sensor features a 1/1.4-inch optical format with 0.56μm pixels. It is said to feature iDCG and DSG technologies to deliver enhanced dynamic range, low-light photography capabilities, and 14-bit HDR output.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with high-end hardware to complement its camera system. The device is expected to launch with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The phone ships out of the box with HyperOS 3, which supports advanced artificial intelligence features.
