Having failed to achieve the success it expected in the smartphone market, HMD Global is shifting its strategy and preparing to try its hand at the laptop segment. Having made a fresh start in the mobile market by acquiring the Nokia brand, which had almost disappeared under the Microsoft umbrella, HMD Global unfortunately failed to meet initial expectations.
HMD is launching a laptop model
Following this development, the company first withdrew the Nokia brand from the smartphone market and then decided to withdraw from the US market entirely. Now, the company is turning its attention to the laptop market.

Leaks indicate that the company is working on a laptop to be called the HMD Book CS-1 Flip, or simply HMD Book Flip. This new model is reportedly expected to run ChromeOS or, depending on the final decision, Android for PC.
One of the device’s most striking features is its 360-degree rotating touchscreen. It’s also being reported that Intel will be the preferred processor.
HMD Global is not entirely new to the laptop market. Years ago, the company partnered with OffGlobal to launch the Nokia Purebook laptop series. However, the HMD Book is the first laptop model to be released under the company’s own brand.
A closer look at the device’s hardware suggests it will be aimed at consumers with everyday needs and general usage. There is currently no firm release date for the HMD Book Flip.
