One UI 8.5, the new version of Samsung’s Android operating system interface, introduces a significant feature that will improve the user experience. The new version includes a system that automatically silences annoying ad notifications from apps and blocks spammers.
One UI 8.5 will turn off ad notifications
This feature has been added to the Device Care menu of Samsung devices. With the upcoming update, if the phone is constantly alerting the user to apps that send ad notifications, One UI 8.5 will put an end to this. To prevent these apps from continuing to spam the notification panel, the system will automatically put them into deep sleep mode.

The new feature focuses on controlling apps that send excessive ad notifications, rather than blocking apps that display ads within apps. In-app ads are not blocked by the system; users typically need to purchase a premium subscription to remove these ads. However, One UI 8.5 directly addresses the problem of notification bombardment.
Samsung is developing a two-stage system that automatically detects and controls apps that constantly send ad notifications. The first stage, Basic Blocking, uses a predetermined list of apps known to send frequent ad notifications.
If the phone detects one of these apps, One UI 8.5 will automatically block the app’s ad notifications and place it in deep sleep mode. The second stage, Smart Blocking, analyzes notifications locally on the device.
If the system detects a notification as an ad and detects frequent notifications, it will block those notifications. Samsung states that this analysis may not always be perfect, but it will significantly reduce daily notification spam.
Apps placed in deep sleep mode by the system for sending frequent ad notifications can be reviewed by users under Settings > Device maintenance > Maintenance report. One UI 8.5 will be available with the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. The beta program for this version is expected to begin next week, limited to the Galaxy S25 series.
