Real-world images of the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra have surfaced online, confirming earlier rumors about the device’s major camera overhaul and hinting at a global release in early 2026. With a triple Leica camera system and a new zoom lens configuration, Xiaomi looks set to shake up its flagship line.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra features redesigned Leica optics

Spyshots posted to Weibo show what’s likely an early Xiaomi 17 Ultra test unit wrapped in a thick case. Despite the concealment, the new Leica camera layout is clearly visible. Gone is the quad-camera array from the 15 Ultra in its place is a triple-camera system with some striking changes.
A massive 200 MP telephoto lens now sits at the upper left, surrounded by smaller sensors and twin circular LEDs. This matches camera configurations recently uncovered in Xiaomi’s HyperOS code. Two other lenses fill out the bottom half of the round module, reinforcing the shift toward a more focused triple-lens setup.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra could bring true variable zoom
While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed it yet, insiders claim the telephoto unit may feature a real optical zoom mechanism with variable focal length. If true, that would mark a major leap over current fixed zoom setups and bring the 17 Ultra closer to pro-grade camera territory.
Camera highlights from the leak:
- Triple-lens Leica camera system
- 200 MP telephoto lens, possibly with optical zoom
- Two additional rear sensors
- Twin LED flashes
- Resemblance to Vivo X200 Ultra’s lens layout
All signs suggest Xiaomi is refining rather than expanding replacing extra lenses with better ones.
Global model already confirmed
While previous Ultras launched mainly in China, a global version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is now official. The model number 2512BPNDAG recently appeared in the IMEI database, confirming international availability. Sources expect a China release this December, with a broader rollout by March 2026.
That timeline fits Xiaomi’s usual launch pattern and fans outside China can finally stop wondering whether this flagship will stay exclusive.
