All of this year’s iPhone launches have concluded, and the tech world’s attention is already focused on 2026, namely the iPhone 18 series. The latest leaks suggest that Apple may finally decide to incorporate under-display selfie camera technology with this model.
The anticipated revolution with the iPhone 18: Is an under-display camera coming?
According to information shared by renowned leaker Smart Pikachu, Apple is actively testing under-display camera technology for the iPhone 18 models. If these tests are successful, it could lead to a smaller or even complete elimination of the phone’s display notch.

While this feature has been talked about for years for iPhone models, it hasn’t yet been implemented. However, other sources indicate that an under-display Face ID camera is on the table for the iPhone 18. This adds credibility to the leak and confirms that Apple is slowly moving towards an all-screen iPhone design.
In fact, other smartphone manufacturers have been testing this technology for years. As you may recall, Samsung included a camera under the main display on its Galaxy Z Fold 3, introduced in 2021. However, at the time, users were not satisfied with the image quality offered by the camera.
Due to quality issues, Samsung appears to have abandoned this technology, at least for now. All Galaxy models released in 2025, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, featured traditional selfie cameras.
While Apple doesn’t always aim to be the first in the industry to innovate, it is known for integrating new technologies better than its competitors. Technologies like Touch ID and Face ID are among the most concrete examples of this. It’s believed that Apple is aiming for similar excellence with its under-display camera and doesn’t want to introduce the technology before it’s fully matured.
Reliable sources also suggest that Apple may change its launch schedule next year. Accordingly, the Pro models could be introduced in September, while the standard iPhone 18 model could be introduced in March 2026. The tech world is already eagerly awaiting the camera capabilities of these new models.
So, what do you think about the notchless full-screen experience? Do you think an all-screen design is possible without compromising image quality?
