The balance of power is shifting once again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). On December 15th, leaked images, though low-quality, caused a sensation on social media, confirming a fan’s biggest dream. The trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, a theatrical release, has been leaked, and it appears Steve Rogers (Captain America) is returning from retirement.
Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter, and a baby…
The leaked footage opens with a very emotional scene. We see Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers returning to the house where he danced with Peggy Carter in the final scene of Avengers: Endgame. But the real surprise happens inside the house; Steve enters and takes a baby into his arms.

At the end of the footage, the following text appears on a black screen, enough to send shivers down your spine: “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
This leak is in stark contrast to a statement Chris Evans made to Esquire magazine earlier this year. Evans had denied claims of a return to the MCU, saying, “This always happens, it comes out every few years since Endgame. I’ve stopped answering. I’m happily retired!” However, Marvel’s immediate DMCA (Dialogue, Copyright Infringement, and Messages Act) action to remove the leaked videos almost certainly confirms the authenticity of the footage.
Rumors suggest this trailer will be released before the screenings of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. It’s even being said that Marvel isn’t holding back and will release four different promotional videos over the next month, each focusing on a different character (X-Men, Fantastic Four members, etc.).
Avengers: Doomsday, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Bringing together the X-Men, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four, the film is already poised to be one of the biggest events in cinematic history.
