HMD Global continues to expand its affordable smartphone portfolio. The HMD Vibe 2, expected to be the successor to the HMD Vibe model launched in June, has surfaced with its technical specifications and design. Leaks shared via X (Twitter) suggest the device will be a “unpretentious but practical” option.
Smooth Display and Renewed Design
The HMD Vibe 2 comes with a 6.75-inch HD+ resolution IPS LCD panel to improve the visual experience.
- 90Hz Refresh Rate: Promises a smoother interface experience compared to the standard screen of the previous model.
- Design Note: Leaked images show a shift from the hole-punch design of the first model to a waterdrop notch. While this might seem like a “step backward,” the modern touches in the rear camera module balance the device’s design.

At the heart of the device is the 4G-enabled Unisoc T7200 chipset. This processor, which won’t push performance limits, is accompanied by 4GB of RAM. This setup is sufficient to comfortably handle daily tasks such as social media, video watching, and internet browsing.
Storage: In addition to 128GB and 256GB options, microSD card support, which is not seen in many phones anymore, is also retained.
Software: The device’s biggest advantage is that it comes with Android 15 out of the box. This provides a significant software advantage against its competitors in the budget segment.
On the back, there is a 50MP main camera and a 0.8MP secondary sensor that helps with depth sensing. On the front, a 2MP or 5MP camera is used for selfies. The 5,000 mAh battery seems quite sufficient for all-day use. Charging speed is limited to 10W.
Considering that the first model, the HMD Vibe, was launched in the approximately $100-110 (8,999 Indian Rupees) range, the Vibe 2 is expected to target budget-conscious users with a similar price tag.
