While speculation continues about the price of GTA 6, statements from a former Rockstar Games employee have caused a sensation. The developer stated that the game will not have an exorbitant price tag like $100, but rather will be offered at a standard price.
How Much Will GTA 6 Cost?
In an interview, Mike York, a former animator at Rockstar Games, clarified one of the most debated topics in the gaming world. York stated that he predicts the base edition price of GTA 6 will remain around $70, similar to other major titles released recently. This statement somewhat alleviated concerns that the game would be released at $100 or higher.

According to Mike York, Rockstar Games will not pursue an aggressive pricing strategy that would undermine player confidence. The main reason for this is that the company’s primary revenue model is based on GTA Online. York emphasized that the GTA series already has enormous sales potential and that the company’s main focus will be on online content and microtransactions after the game’s release. Therefore, keeping the base game at an accessible price is seen as a logical strategy to attract a wider player base to the GTA Online ecosystem.
However, York’s statements apply to the standard version. The former developer also stated that Rockstar may offer various editions to appeal to different player demographics. These editions are expected to include a “Deluxe” or “Premium” edition priced in the $99-100 range, which would include exclusive GTA Online benefits, digital bonus content, or early access. However, it is emphasized that these packages would be entirely optional.
Rockstar Games has not yet made an official price announcement. As the game’s release date of May 26, 2026 approaches, pre-order prices and edition details are expected to become clearer. GTA 6 will initially be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
