WhatsApp recently released its watchOS app, allowing Apple Watch users to read, reply to, and react to messages directly from their wrists. Following this significant step, the app was further enhanced with features like support for long messages, voice notes, and call notifications. Now, the company is working on a new management panel that will allow iPhone users to track their connected smartwatches much more easily from their phones.
A Peripherals section added to the Connected Devices menu
According to the latest information shared by WABetaInfo, a new section called Peripherals has been added under the Connected Devices settings in the WhatsApp iOS beta version. When users connect an Apple Watch, their watch will now be listed in this area. The list will include critical information such as the device name and current connection status. Clicking on the watch will open a Device Information page containing detailed data and instructions on how to disconnect.

The biggest drawback of the new feature in the current version is the lack of a direct disconnect or remove button. Currently, users have to delete the WhatsApp application from the watch to remove it. This could create a security vulnerability in emergencies like the watch being lost or stolen, so WhatsApp engineers are expected to add a remote access disable button to this section before the feature is rolled out to everyone.
This feature, which has started appearing in beta version 25.37.10.71 and some stable versions, will also make it easier to track technical issues. Thanks to the device status section, users will be able to see when their Apple Watch was last synced. This will make it easier to identify the source of the problem, such as messages not appearing on the watch. The feature is planned to be gradually rolled out to all iPhone users in the coming days.
