Furthermore, it provides the best native experience for classics such as the original Uncharted series, Infamous 2, and GTA 4.
As a user on Reddit first pointed out, the official Netflix app now displays a notification upon launch, warning that support is ending. According to the message, the service will become completely inaccessible starting March 2, 2026. The company also provides a link to a list of compatible devices for users who wish to continue streaming.
Netflix first arrived on the PS3 platform in 2009 via a physical disc, with the digital application we know today launching in 2010. While not as old as the console itself, the app’s longevity has been an unexpected success. Fortunately, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners can continue to download the current app and watch their favorite content without interruption, provided they have an active subscription.
The Legacy of the PlayStation 3 Lives On
The console, which will celebrate its big birthday in November, still maintains a loyal user base. In 2021, Sony attempted to close the PS3, PSP, and PS Vita digital stores but had to reverse the decision following significant backlash from gamers. Then-CEO Jim Ryan admitted the decision was a mistake. Even today, PS3 owners can still purchase games and content from the digital store, proving the device is still actively used.
