The assistants that have been on our smartphones for years are no longer just answering questions. Google has officially transformed its Gemini AI into a tool capable of directly operating your Android applications.
Google Gemini Task Automation Launched for Galaxy S26
The long-anticipated Gemini task automation feature has made its debut on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. Instead of opening apps manually, users can now delegate their entire workflow to AI simply by giving voice commands. This system opens the doors to a completely new era of smartphone interaction.
Using the system is remarkably simple and practical. For instance, if you tell your phone, “Book me a ride to the airport” or “Order a coffee and a croissant,” Gemini enters the relevant apps for you. The AI opens the app just as you would, navigates through the necessary screens, and completes the process. It can even skip extra steps and select the most appropriate options for you, handling complex multi-step requests with ease.

Live Tracking and Security Measures
While the AI performs these tasks in the background, users can easily monitor the progress. A notification appears while Gemini is working, allowing you to either watch the process live or continue using your phone normally.
Security has not been overlooked in this transition. To prevent potential errors, Google does not allow the AI to click final confirmation buttons such as “Place Order” or “Pay.” Once your cart is prepared, the final purchase must be completed manually by the user.
Availability and Supported Apps
First showcased at the Galaxy Unpacked event with initial teasers appearing last February, this system is not yet globally accessible. Currently, it is only available on Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 devices in the United States and South Korea. At launch, the feature supports ride-sharing and food delivery apps, with plans to expand to more applications soon.
What do you think about AI controlling your apps for you? Which smartphone are you currently using, and would you trust an AI assistant with your daily errands?
