The popular streaming platform has announced a new subscription tier that changes the ad-free viewing experience. Set to launch next month, the Amazon Prime Video Ultra package will replace the existing ad-free plan. However, this new tier will demand a higher fee from users than its predecessor.
Features of the Amazon Prime Video Ultra Package
This new subscription tier stands out as the platform’s sole ad-free viewing alternative. The company is launching the package for users in the U.S. market on April 10. Officials have set the monthly fee for this new ad-free experience at $4.99.
Users will add this new price on top of the standard subscription fee, which is $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. Compared to the current $2.99 ad-free plan, this represents a significant price hike. Nevertheless, the company is offering several additional features to justify the increased cost.

Privileges Offered by the New Subscription
With the new package, the simultaneous stream limit increases from three devices to five. Additionally, subscribers can now download up to 100 titles, up from the previous limit of 25. The most notable innovation is that access to 4K and UHD resolution streams will be restricted exclusively to those with this package. This exclusive 4K requirement may force many standard users seeking high quality to upgrade to the top tier.
Primary Reasons for the Price Hike
Company management emphasizes that offering ad-free and premium features requires significant technological investment. The new structure directly aligns with the pricing strategies of other major streaming platforms. On the other hand, standard members will continue to watch content in HD and HDR quality. Furthermore, the company is including Dolby Vision support in the standard package at no additional cost.
For now, the company is only launching the Ultra package in the U.S. market. However, if the system proves successful, it is expected to roll out globally to other countries. Ultimately, if you are looking for an ad-free viewing experience, you will now need to allocate a larger portion of your budget.
