The new one-off special production focused on the character, “The Punisher: One Last Kill,” will meet the audience on the Disney+ platform on May 12, 2026. This exciting release will take place just one week after the Daredevil: Born Again season two finale, which premiered its first episodes this week. Since Frank Castle is also heavily featured in the Born Again series, fans will have the opportunity to watch eight consecutive weeks of Punisher-related adventures.
Return to Disney+ Screens: The Punisher Special Episode Is Coming
The script for this new Marvel Television Special Presentation was co-written by the acclaimed actor Jon Bernthal, who has portrayed the character for a decade. Described as a “love letter” to the antihero, the plot is currently being kept secret. Marvel TV executive Brad Winderbaum summarizes the project as “a story like a shotgun blast.” The director’s chair is occupied by Reinaldo Marcus Green, known for his successful work on We Own This City alongside David Simon.
Frank Castle is confirmed to survive the violent events of the special, as evidenced by his prominent appearance in the recently released trailer for the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day (releasing July 31). This marks a historic milestone as Bernthal’s Punisher will appear in a major theatrical motion picture for the first time. The actor first took on the role in the second season of the original Netflix Daredevil series, which later led to a two-season solo series before the Netflix-Marvel partnership concluded.
The Punisher isn’t the only Netflix-era hero being reborn on Disney+. After Charlie Cox returned as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, he secured his own series. Furthermore, reports indicate that Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones will return in Born Again, and Mike Colter has hinted that Luke Cage could return to screens in the near future.
