The popular military video game series Battlefield is getting ready to be brought to the big screen. Negotiations are underway with prominent Hollywood names Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan for the project. Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work in the Mission: Impossible series, has joined the project to undertake the writing, directing, and producing of the Battlefield movie.
While Oscar-winning actor Michael B. Jordan takes part as a producer, there is also a possibility of him acting in the film.
A Giant Budget Production is on the Way
The Battlefield project is currently the scene of great competition among studios. This project, where names from companies like Electronic Arts, Emerald Neon, Vertigo, and Outlier Society take part in the producer staff, is seen as one of the biggest bidding wars of the year in the cinema world.

It is stated that McQuarrie and his team prioritize the film’s theatrical release. Therefore, it is not yet clear whether digital platforms like Netflix will be included in the project. This production, which is expected to be quite costly for studio executives, requires a high budget both in terms of acquiring the game rights and talent costs.
The Battlefield series turned into a vast universe starting with Battlefield 1942 in 2002 and encompassing different eras over time. The last game of the series, Battlefield 6, released in 2025, left Call of Duty behind and became the best-selling game of the year. Battlefield 6 drew attention with its story set in the future and its scenario about a fragmented NATO structure.
Competition is Moving to the Cinema
The long-standing Battlefield and Call of Duty competition in the video game world may also be reflected on the big screen. Names like Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg are working on a Call of Duty movie developed under Paramount.
Whether McQuarrie and his team will have a meeting with Paramount, which is working on the rival game’s movie, remains uncertain. Christopher McQuarrie is represented by CAA, and Michael B. Jordan is represented by WME and 1v1 Entertainment.
Do you think the cinema adaptation of the Battlefield game can be successful in its competition with the Call of Duty movie?
