Google has officially expanded the reach of its popular video conferencing service by integrating Google Meet into the Android Auto platform. This long-awaited update, which follows the introduction of similar functionality for Apple CarPlay several months ago, enables drivers to participate in meetings directly through their vehicle’s infotainment system. The feature is available to all users who have the Google Meet application installed on their Android smartphones, allowing for a seamless transition from mobile devices to the car display. This layout allows drivers to join conversations with a single tap, minimizing the time spent interacting with the screen. 
Google has strictly disabled video transmission to ensure that the driver’s attention remains focused entirely on the road ahead.
In addition to removing video capabilities, the platform restricts several interactive tools commonly found in the desktop or mobile versions of the application. Features such as in-meeting chat, hand-raising, and survey participation are entirely inaccessible while the vehicle is in motion. The interface is purposefully limited to essential controls, specifically those for muting the microphone and terminating the call.
