Dyson Launches CameraJet Smart Toothbrush With AI Precision

British technology giant Dyson has officially unveiled the Dyson CameraJet, a revolutionary smart toothbrush that marks the company’s ambitious entry into the high-end personal care market. Announced during a major launch event in Paris, the device is the culmination of six years of intensive research and development. The CameraJet integrates a high-definition macro lens camera, artificial intelligence-driven targeting, and a specialized conical water jet system into a single, cohesive unit. By combining brushing, flossing, and mouth rinsing technologies, Dyson aims to redefine oral hygiene standards through advanced optical scanning and automated cleaning precision that surpasses conventional electric toothbrushes.
- The device utilizes a 100,000-pixel macro camera to map dental gaps in real-time.
- A specialized algorithm triggers a conical water jet within 100 milliseconds of detecting debris.
- The integrated system replaces the need for manual flossing by delivering automated interdental cleaning.
- Dyson provides a comprehensive starter kit including specialized, non-foaming dental hygiene solutions.
AI Algorithms Enable Real-Time Oral Mapping
The core innovation of the Dyson CameraJet lies in its Gap Optical Targeting system. This feature employs a high-resolution macro lens that scans the mouth at 28 frames per second, creating a live map of interdental spaces. The underlying algorithm was trained on a dataset of 470,000 dental images and contains 16 million lines of code, allowing the device to identify missed areas instantly.
Once a gap is identified, the device fires a concentrated stream of water to clear plaque and debris. Because the system operates with such high speed, the user receives an automated flossing experience while simultaneously brushing their teeth, effectively eliminating the human error typically associated with traditional manual flossing techniques.
Conical Jet Technology Enhances Cleaning Efficiency
Traditional oral irrigators often rely on needle-thin water streams that may fail to remove stubborn, sticky plaque layers. Dyson engineers collaborated with the National University of Singapore Faculty of Dentistry to develop a conical jet that distributes pressure more evenly.
This method covers a larger surface area without causing irritation to sensitive gum tissue. The device also features a 12.5 ml gravity-defying fluid reservoir, ensuring consistent liquid flow regardless of the brush angle. Additionally, a dedicated docking station allows for a three-second automated refill of the reservoir using the brand’s proprietary oral care solution, which is specially formulated to prevent foaming and maintain camera clarity.
Connectivity Features Ensure User Data Privacy
The Dyson CameraJet connects to the MyDyson application via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing users to view live endoscopic feeds of their dental progress. The app tracks brushing habits and creates maps of the oral cavity for better health monitoring. Regarding privacy, Dyson has confirmed that all visual data is processed locally on the device and is not stored on cloud servers.
To support this advanced hardware, Dyson has introduced a range of non-foaming toothpastes and low-foaming mouthwashes. The product package includes the CameraJet unit, the automated charging station, a travel case, and the proprietary cleaning formulas, with a retail price set at 24,999 TL for the Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink variants.
Given the rapid integration of artificial intelligence and high-definition imaging into our daily routines, do you believe that a camera-equipped toothbrush is the future of preventative dental care, or is it a step too far for your morning routine? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
