WhatsApp is currently testing a dedicated events hub aimed at streamlining how users organize and manage gatherings directly within the application. Recently spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.36.5, this feature introduces a centralized section within the app settings, allowing users to view and track all their scheduled activities in one place. By moving away from the previous reliance on scattered chat histories, the platform seeks to simplify planning processes. This update represents a significant shift in how the messaging giant facilitates coordination, making it easier for individuals to keep track of their social and professional commitments without losing vital information in cluttered threads.

All Events are Being Managed from a Centralized Page

Previously, creating and managing events on WhatsApp was restricted to specific group or individual chats. This fragmentation often created a cumbersome experience, as users had to navigate through various conversation logs to verify details like timing, location, or guest lists. With the introduction of this new hub, WhatsApp effectively eliminates the need to jump between different chat windows. By consolidating all event data into a single, accessible dashboard, the application provides a much more intuitive workflow for users who juggle multiple social or professional plans simultaneously.

New Event Hub Features are Becoming Available

The new section, which is easily identifiable through a dedicated badge in the settings menu, serves as a comprehensive repository for both events created by the user and those to which they have been invited. Upon selecting the “Create Event” option, users can input essential details such as the event name, date, time, location, and a descriptive summary. Furthermore, the platform offers advanced customization options, including the ability to attach a WhatsApp call link or upload a custom cover photo to make the invitation more personalized and engaging for all prospective attendees.

The Invitation Process Now Includes Non-WhatsApp Users

One of the most notable improvements involves the expansion of the invitation system to include people outside of the WhatsApp ecosystem. When an event is finalized, the system automatically generates a unique link. This allows organizers to send invitations to individuals who do not possess a WhatsApp account. These recipients can access the event details through a browser, confirm their attendance by providing their name, and verify their phone number, ensuring that no one is excluded from the planning process simply due to their choice of messaging platform.

Privacy and Security Standards are Being Maintained

WhatsApp remains committed to safeguarding user data through its rigorous security protocols. While event details such as date, location, and guest lists are accessible to invitees, the platform enforces strict privacy controls regarding contact information. Specifically, attendee phone numbers are only visible to other participants who already have them saved in their address books. Furthermore, all individual messages and voice calls exchanged within the context of these events continue to benefit from the application’s hallmark end-to-end encryption standards.

Feature Rollout is Progressing Gradually

This functionality is currently undergoing testing with Android beta users, with a wider release expected via upcoming Google Play Store updates. While some users may not yet see the event hub in their settings menu, the company intends to expand availability in the coming weeks.
