Pre-Order Details and Bonuses are Revealed
Players who pre-order “God of War Laufey” will receive a variety of exclusive bonuses. These include the “Last Wish Armor Set,” a cosmetic item known as the “Phranque Golden Leaf Appearance,” and an in-game resource pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition further enhances this offering with additional items such as the “Dark Alchemy Armor Set,” “Dark Alchemy Blade,” “Dark Alchemy Bow Scales,” and “Dark Alchemy Catalyst.” This edition also includes a digital mini art book and the official digital soundtrack.
The studio has clarified that all in-game items, whether for the standard or Digital Deluxe editions, will be unlocked through story progression. This means they will not be immediately available from the start of the game. Santa Monica has not yet disclosed pricing for either version, but these details are expected to be confirmed upon the commencement of pre-orders tomorrow.
Faye’s New Combat Style Emerges
One of the most striking aspects of the developer’s update centers on Faye’s new weapon and combat mechanics. The studio emphasized that Faye adopts an entirely different approach compared to Kratos’s direct and aggressive fighting style. This strategic shift aims to provide players with a fresh gameplay experience within the series.

Features of the Serpent Bow are Detailed
Faye’s primary weapon, the “Serpent Bow,” is a magical bow capable of transforming and readying itself instantly, much like a serpent. This unique feature allows Faye to seamlessly integrate archery attacks into her close-quarters combat combos. According to Santa Monica Studio, the Serpent Bow is engineered to be effective in both close-range and long-distance engagements.
The bow offers two distinct firing modes, which are determined by how long the aim trigger is pressed:
- Full Aim (Precision Mode): When the trigger is fully pressed, Faye achieves more accurate aiming and a longer shot range. Targeting specific enemy body parts can create openings for melee attacks by hindering their movement or attacks. Charging the bow to convert up to five arrows into a single powerful shot synergizes well with the ability to launch enemies into the air.
- Half Aim (Hip-Fire Mode): Pressing the trigger halfway transitions Faye into a more mobile stance, firing a burst of arrows that deal concentrated damage at close range. This mode is ideal for controlling airborne enemies and extending combos while switching between weapons and abilities.
In addition to these two modes, Faye will have access to various arrow types, including rapid fire, explosive, and multi-target shots.
Equipment Customization Options are Presented
Developers have also revealed that customization in “God of War Laufey” will be facilitated through three primary equipment slots. “Scales” modify the Serpent Bow’s appearance and specialization with a unique perk; the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales from the Digital Deluxe Edition serve as an example. The bow will also possess its own set of unlockable skills.
The customizable element for Faye’s blade is referred to as “Blades,” while “Catalysts” are artifacts that channel the magic of Everywhen, the afterlife realm where the game is set, offering various effects. Lastly, armor sets will provide distinct appearances along with gameplay advantages and statistical benefits.
Santa Monica Studio has pledged to share more information in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for further updates.
