vivo announced that it will hold a launch event on June 25. The company will showcase its new generation foldable phone and a new wireless headset at the event. The focus of the event will be the vivo X Fold 5, which will come out with the slogan “lighter and stronger”, promising significant improvements in terms of design and performance.
vivo X Fold 5 is expected to be the lightest model among large-sized foldable phones so far. In this context, it is stated that its weight will be under 209 grams. The device will be available in three colors: Pine Green, White, and Titanium, and will feature a circular camera module with the Zeiss brand.
In terms of design, the official images show that there is no major change from the previous model. However, a new physical button on the left side of the device, replacing the mute switch, is noticeable.
The inner screen of the X Fold 5 will be 8.03 inches, while the cover screen will be 6.53 inches. Both screens use 8T LTPO panels and support high-frequency PWM dimming at full brightness. The device will also host IPX9 water resistance and IPX5 dust resistance certifications.
The X Fold 5 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and come with a 6,000mAh battery. On the charging side, it will support 90W wired and 30W wireless charging. On the back, there will be a triple camera setup, including a 50 MP Sony IMX921 main camera with OIS support, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50 MP IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x zoom.
One of the prominent features of the Vivo X Fold 5 is its full compatibility with the Apple ecosystem. The device supports iCloud login, special animated AirPods pairing and control via phone, and syncing Apple Watch health data with the Vivo Health app.
