A Long-Awaited Feature Is Coming to the YouTube App!

Ana sayfa / News

For the world’s most visited and used video streaming service, YouTube, a feature that Android users have been waiting for years is finally on the horizon. Known as multi-tasking, this feature will allow users to watch a video while browsing others and performing other tasks through a proper ‘picture-in-picture’ (PiP) mode, which is currently being tested for Android users.

Although YouTube does not make the background playback feature available to free users, which is offered to its paid Premium subscribers, it provides an alternative with the picture-in-picture (PiP) mode that was launched in the US in 2022 and expanded globally this year. However, even for paid subscribers, the PiP mode within the YouTube app has not been working until now.

In version 19.29.37 of the YouTube app for Android, a feature was discovered on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. With this new update, the minimize function while watching a video in YouTube is now a genuinely useful picture-in-picture mode instead of just a small bar. This video screen can be resized and its position on the screen can be changed.

YouTube Shorts getting Instagram’s popular feature

YouTube Shorts is getting a new feature. We will now see videos on various topics in YouTube Shorts.

For Android users, it’s worth noting: This feature is currently in the testing phase and has not yet been rolled out to users. However, considering that the mini bar was introduced in 2018 and there have been no developments in this area for six years, we predict that the PiP mode will be available at least to a certain group of users in the near future.
