A sequel to 28 Years Later, released this year and receiving positive reviews from the cinema world, is on the way. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the second installment of the newly launched trilogy, is set to premiere early next year. Sony, the film’s producer, released a new trailer today as part of the release process.

This sequel, which will be released in Turkey under the title 28 Years Later Part Two: The Bone Temple, picks up where the first film left off. The new film will hit the big screen on January 16, 2026. Fans of the series will see the return of familiar faces from the first film’s cast.

Ralph Fiennes and Alfie Williams reprise their roles from the first film. Jack O’Connell, the leader of a motley crew who briefly appeared at the end of the first installment, also joins the cast. O’Connell’s character takes on a much more prominent role in this sequel.

Series writer Alex Garland, just as he did with 28 Years Later, continues to write the script for the sequel, Temple of Bones. However, there has been a change in the director’s chair. Danny Boyle, who directed the first film, is now solely involved as a producer. Nia DaCosta, director of The Marvels, is taking over the directorial duties.

The box office performance of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is crucial to the future of the new series. If this second film fails to achieve the desired box office success as the first, the third installment of this planned trilogy may not be produced. Therefore, the film’s success will determine whether the series will be completed.
