Sony announced the official name and technical details for its new arcade controller this week, which it announced last month. The device, designed for PlayStation 5 and PC users, was named FlexStrike. Sony also released a video accompanying the controller’s launch.
New arcade controller to be unveiled for PlayStation
The FlexStrike offers both wired and wireless options. Wired connectivity is available via USB Type-C, while wireless connectivity utilizes PlayStation Link technology. This technology transfers signals without any delays in the gaming experience.
The controller is directly compatible with PlayStation 5 systems. It can also be connected simultaneously with a DualSense controller and a PS5. This functionality is particularly useful when accessing menus or navigating the system interface. Users can use the arcade controller for in-game commands while simultaneously controlling other system functions with the DualSense.
The FlexStrike will initially be showcased visually at EVO 2025. Sony has announced a release date of 2026. This timing suggests a launch planned around the tournament calendar for a product targeting professional fighting game players.
The FlexStrike stands out as a next-generation peripheral that aims to offer a modern solution for the PS5 era for gamers accustomed to classic arcade hardware. What are your thoughts on this device? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
