The new series “Prison Break,” which has been in development for some time, has officially received the first season greenlight from the streaming platform Hulu. Disney, which previously greenlit the pilot, confirmed the series’ release after being pleased with the pilot.
Prison Break Returns
“Prison Break,” a popular series from the 2000s, will not focus on the story of Michael Scofield and his brother in this new installment. This new version will be set in the same universe as the original but will focus on the lives of entirely new characters.
The new story centers on a female veteran who, in an effort to help a loved one, takes a job as a correctional officer in one of America’s most dangerous prisons.
The main characters in the new installment will be played by Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, and Drake Rodger. The cast will include Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores, and Myles Bullock.
Elgin James, who replaced Paul T. Scheuring as the creator of the original series, is responsible for this new series. James, known for creating series like “Mayans M.C.” and “The Outlaws,” is producing the series. Scheuring is solely serving as a producer.
With the official green light, the series is one step closer to its premiere. The premiere date for the new “Prison Break” hasn’t yet been announced, but it’s likely to premiere in 2026.
