The moment the gaming world has been eagerly awaiting has arrived. Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that the next Battlefield game will be called Battlefield 6 and announced that the first trailer will be released tomorrow, Thursday, July 24th. This announcement has rekindled hopes for the series’ future after the disappointment of Battlefield 2042.

Following rumors leaked online last weekend, EA has made the much-anticipated official announcement. Developer DICE and publisher EA have confirmed that the game’s first trailer will be released on Thursday, July 24th. The reveal, which will be held on the official Battlefield YouTube channel, will begin at 6:00 PM Turkish time. While it remains unclear whether the trailer will include gameplay footage, this reveal will provide the first clues about the game’s atmosphere and overall concept.

Fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the new game, arriving after nearly four years. The previous game, Battlefield 2042, had one of the most controversial launches in the series’ history, with numerous issues at launch. Problems like the Specialist system, limited weapon count, lack of a leaderboard, bugs, and performance issues have sparked widespread backlash among players.

Thankfully, DICE appears to have heeded these criticisms. Last year, the studio stated that Battlefield 6 would draw inspiration from Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, two of the series’ most beloved games. According to EA, the new game will feature a modern warfare setting and, most importantly, completely remove the controversial Specialist system from Battlefield 2042.

In another exciting development, EA also announced an open beta for Battlefield 6. While no specific date has been given for the beta, rumors suggest it could begin as soon as August.

Battlefield 6 doesn’t yet have an official release date, but it’s expected to launch later this year. This will put it directly in competition with its biggest rival, Black Ops 7, the new installment of the Call of Duty series. Rumors suggest that details of the new Call of Duty, which is set to release in November, will be revealed at the August 19th launch event. If both games are released this year, it will be the first time since 2021 that two major shooter series will face off in the same year.
