AAA Games Harmed Apple! iPhone Users Aren’t Interested

Ana sayfa / News

Apple is making significant efforts to promote the iPhone as a gaming platform. Thanks to the A17 Pro chip, the Apple iPhone 15 can run AAA games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage. However, it appears that iPhone users are not very interested in these games.

Apple has been quite unsuccessful in selling AAA games to iPhone 15 users. For instance, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, released on iPhone on June 6th, was only downloaded 3,000 times and generated just $138,000 in revenue, including in-game purchases.

Even the 123,000 users who tried the game for free were not enough to boost these numbers. This is a very low figure in the mobile gaming world. During the same period, games specifically developed for mobile devices, such as Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, achieved much higher revenues.

Apple fiasco! Popular games fail on iPhone

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Death Stranding and Resident Evil 4 iPhone sales were not as expected. Here are the details.

This situation is related to the gaming preferences of iPhone users. Successful mobile games often stand out with simple controls, unique art styles, and suitability for short gaming sessions. However, AAA games on the iPhone generally do not meet these criteria.

Another issue is the price. AAA games for the Apple iPhone 15 are quite expensive. Assassin’s Creed Mirage costs $49.99, while Death Stranding is $39.99. These prices are unusually high for mobile games. Players who can afford high-end mobile devices and expensive games usually prefer PC and console games. On the other hand, players who cannot afford such devices tend to avoid one-time purchases at such high amounts.

Despite this situation, Apple continues to bring AAA games to the iPhone. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also be accessible to iPhone Pro owners. However, the sales figures of current games indicate that Apple’s move is more about attracting attention and boosting iPhone Pro sales. The revenue generated from the games themselves is not a primary source of income for Apple.
