Major cheater purge in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone
Activision has announced that it has banned more than 65,000 cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. The move comes as the anti-cheat team known as Team Ricochet cleansed the Ranked Play leaderboards. The purge, which took place in both Ranked and Unranked modes, targeted players who cheated and used boosts.
“Team Ricochet has stepped up its crackdown on cheaters and this week banned more than 65,000 accounts in Warzone and MW3,” said Team Ricochet. “The team will continue to monitor and take enforcement action against those who cheat or use boosts in all game modes.”
While this number may not seem huge given the size of the Call of Duty player base, it was received positively by the community. One commenter said, “65k accounts seems too small… I feel there are more…”, emphasizing the importance of this operation.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, released last year, is now available on Xbox Game Pass. Game Pass subscribers have access to all of the game’s modes, including the single-player campaign, multiplayer modes and the open-world Zombies. This is the second Activision Blizzard game to be added to Game Pass since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $69 billion. Diablo 4 was added to the subscription service in March.
This year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also be available to Game Pass subscribers on October 24. And in September, Black Ops 6’s multiplayer open beta will be available a week earlier for those with early access (including Game Pass subscribers).
