Ad-supported Disney+ Basic plan now available in the US

Disney+ has launched its ad-supported subscription service in the US. Disney+ Basic subscribers will have access to the full content catalog and key features offered on the Premium plan. This includes access to content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic, as well as the ability to download content for offline viewing and create multiple user profiles. The ad-supported subscription plans are now available in the US.

The company offers an extensive collection of films, documentaries, series, and shorts, as well as access to Disney’s long history of entertainment. Users can create up to seven profiles per account, with the ability to set profile PINs and content ratings for parental controls. The service allows for concurrent streaming on up to four devices and offers high-quality video formats, including 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, Full HD, HDR10, and Expanded Aspect Ratio with IMAX Enhanced (where supported).

Disney+ has introduced a new ad-supported Basic subscription plan in the US for $7.99 per month. Current subscribers have the option to switch to the Basic plan, while those who choose to remain on the Premium plan ($10.99 per month or $109.99 per year) do not need to take any action. The company has launched Basic, which combines its extensive library of content with advanced advertising technology. The service offers sophisticated, globally scalable advertising that benefits both consumers and advertisers.

Disney+ Basic has partnered with major agency holding companies, including Dentsu, Havas, Horizon, IPG, Omnicom Group, Publicis, RPA, Stagwell, and WPP, representing over a dozen categories, including retail, apparel, autos, financial services, restaurants, technology, telecom, CPG, and travel. The service will launch with hundreds of creatives from blue-chip brand advertisers.

Basic subscriptions are currently only available in the US and other countries where an ad-supported subscription is offered. Basic subscribers do not have access to premium features like Downloads, GroupWatch and SharePlay, or Dolby Atmos at launch.
