ChatGPT is moving beyond robotic voices!

OpenAI’s highly anticipated advanced voice mode is finally accessible to users in the European region. This breakthrough in the world of artificial intelligence aims to go beyond the robotic voices of traditional digital assistants and offers users a voice that sounds almost indistinguishable from a human’s.

According to OpenAI’s announcement on the X platform, ChatGPT Plus members in the European Union, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein will now have full access to this feature. Previously, only a limited number of users in select regions could access this feature, forcing European users to rely on VPNs.

The release process of the advanced voice mode had been quite rocky. Particularly, due to its resemblance to the AI character voiced by Scarlett Johansson in the movie ‘Her,’ it faced legal challenges and lawsuits. It also raised concerns about user-AI relationships.

In the security report published by OpenAI in August, the risk of users developing emotional attachments to AI was highlighted. The company warned that with the introduction of the voice feature, users might prefer interacting with AI instead of forming real human relationships.
