AMD continues to expand its RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 9000 series. Previously, some basic specifications of the RX 9060 XT were leaked, and now the RX 9050, an entry-level model, has been revealed. The RX 9050, seen in DDTECH’s listings, signals AMD’s return to the budget GPU segment after a long hiatus.
AMD Radeon RX 9050 revealed
In the past, AMD competed at the entry level with the RX 5500 XT and RX 6500 XT models in the RX 5000 and RX 6000 series. However, the company, which skipped this segment in the RX 7000 series, is now preparing to fill this gap with the RX 9050.
Today, the entry-level graphics card market is largely focused on 60 series cards. Even Nvidia skipped the RTX 4050 model in the RTX 40 series, while it is still unclear whether the RTX 5050 will come. At this point, the RX 9050 will stand out as an affordable alternative.
Although the technical details have not yet been finalised, the RX 9050 is expected to come with at least 8 GB VRAM. The card, which will be a trimmed version of the RX 9060 model, will most likely be supported by a 128-bit memory bus. It is also expected to have a TDP value below 150W. This indicates that the card will use a smaller Navi 44 GPU. For comparison, it is rumoured that the RX 9060 will be based on the Navi 48 used in the RX 9070 series.
AMD’s new entry-level graphics card RX 9050 can be a serious alternative for users who want to build budget-friendly systems with its affordable price. Although the official launch date of the card has not yet been announced, more details are expected to emerge soon.
