Apple first launched its augmented reality glasses Vision Pro in the US in early 2024, starting at $3599. While Apple’s glasses were initially very popular, they were later returned due to a lack of apps and content, and being too expensive. Recent reports suggest that Apple is working on a more affordable Apple Vision.
Affordable Apple Vision is coming
Apple is working on more affordable Apple Vision glasses following declining Vision Pro sales. According to analyst Mark Gurman, who is generally known for his predictions about Apple, the company is working on a cheaper smart glasses. According to Gurman, the new affordable smart glasses will be designed in a smaller size than the Vision Pro. At the same time, Gurman said of the newly leaked smart glasses, This category of devices has yet to capture the imagination of consumers, and it’s hard to say when that will happen. Unless the cheaper model is less than $1,500, Vision devices will likely remain niche products.
Apple was also expected to make a deal with Ray Ban in the previous leaks. According to the leaks, if Apple reaches an agreement with Ray Ban, Meta-Ray Ban-like Apple Glass, which users have been waiting for years, is expected to arrive. Even though Gurman made his first statements on this subject in February 2024, no complete information has yet been received by Apple.
Analyst Mark Gurman predicts that the company could unveil its affordable Apple Vision glasses at one of its spring events next year. If the new smart glasses have a design like Meta-Ray Ban, they will feature cameras, speakers and microphones just like Meta’s glasses. At the same time, these glasses, which are expected to support Apple Intelligence, will also support Siri with AI. The new smart glasses are expected to go on sale for 329 dollars.
