Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a new Japan-exclusive PS5 Digital Edition model, available exclusively in Japan. This new Japanese-only model offers a significant price advantage.
Details of the Japan-exclusive PS5 model
According to a statement from Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia, this new console will be released on November 21st. Pre-orders for the model will open on November 13th. The console’s most notable feature is its price.
This new model is priced at ¥55,000 (including tax). However, this affordable price comes with some restrictions. The device will only support Japanese as a system language. Furthermore, the console can only be used with PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts registered in Japan.
The PS5 Digital Edition, currently available in Japan and supporting all languages, is priced at ¥72,980. This new Japanese-exclusive model offers a much lower price point at ¥17,980. Sony is promoting this announcement with the slogan “GO! GO! PS5!” They also released new commercials using the slogan “Sony, it’s a Japanese-only price.”
