Rockstar’s recent move to delay GTA 6 to November 19, 2026 has undoubtedly rattled the games industry, triggering a wave of tense strategy calls across publishers. But one title seems unfazed by the shakeup Marvel’s Wolverine.
Marvel’s Wolverine holding firm on Fall 2026
Developer Insomniac Games took to X (formerly Twitter) to remind fans that Wolverine is still aiming for a Fall 2026 release. Their post was simple but clear: “Don’t miss a shred of information. Wishlist Marvel’s Wolverine, coming Fall 2026.”
That phrasing doesn’t sound like the studio is reconsidering its timeline at least not yet.
Wolverine PS5 could launch before GTA 6 hits
While “Fall 2026” leaves room for flexibility, it’s reasonable to expect Marvel’s Wolverine to drop between late September and early November. If that holds, Wolverine would likely release ahead of GTA 6, which now commands the November 19 slot.
That could turn the early fall season into a tight battleground. No major publisher wants to go toe-to-toe with Rockstar’s juggernaut. And given how anticipated GTA 6 is, the result could be a crowded September and October, as studios try to get ahead of it or avoid it entirely.
Marvel’s Wolverine development appears unaffected
Despite the shift in the industry calendar, there’s no sign that Insomniac is flinching. The studio already proved it can handle big Marvel IP with Spider-Man 2, and it seems confident in its current roadmap even as release schedules begin to pile up around GTA 6.
Of course, nothing’s locked in yet. There’s still nearly a year before marketing for Wolverine truly ramps up, and it’s always possible plans could shift.
Holiday 2026 could get crowded and fast
Here’s the developing picture:
- GTA 6 releases November 19, 2026
- Marvel’s Wolverine targets Fall 2026
- Likely window for Wolverine: Sept–early Nov
- Industry trend: Games avoiding mid-late November
Barring another delay from Rockstar always a possibility 2026 is shaping up to have one of the heaviest Q4 release slates in years. Whether Wolverine ends up going head-to-head with GTA 6 or sidestepping it by weeks, the scramble to grab early holiday attention has already begun.
