A new version of Digit, the humanoid robot model by Agility Robotics, is here. The robot has been making noise since 2019. Digit is a robot model that has been brought to the agenda especially by Ford in recent years. This humanoid robot model, originally developed by Agility Robotics, is being developed especially for package/cargo transportation.
Agility Robotics’s Digit can lift packages up to 35 pounds
As you can see in the videos on the page, Digit has high mobility, although not as high as Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. The robot can climb stairs without any problems. Digit can lift packages/boxes up to 35 pounds with its powerful arms. You can see the bot in action in the demos the company posted to Twitter and YouTube, which show how Digit walks over to a shelf, removes a bin, and then shuffles it over to the conveyer belt.
Early versions of the robot only had a LIDAR scanner on top. However, the robot now has not only a LIDAR scanner but also a head with moving LED eyes. These eyes are designed to help people in the surroundings to understand the robot’s movements.
With the help of its other sensors, Digit is able to navigate without crashing into the environment and can be used in many different fields. These include logistics, warehouses, and industrial inspection. The company is definitely not focusing on the military side with this robot. The human-sized robot is seen as an excellent option for monotonous warehouse management tasks.
Digit, an advanced robot by Agility Robotics, has the ability to move autonomously and is suitable for collective work. Robot Digit is being developed commercially, but there is no clear price for the final version yet. Agility Robotics is currently testing this robot with many different companies and is also launching a new program for more.
