ChatGPT’s Weekly User Count Revealed
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit that the popular AI tool ChatGPT has surpassed 300 million weekly users. Additionally, he highlighted that users send over a billion messages to ChatGPT daily.
“We now have over 300 million active users weekly. Our users send ChatGPT more than 1 billion messages every day,” Altman said.
Notably, the AI bot reached 200 million weekly users in August, meaning it gained over 100 million weekly users in just four months. With new features and advanced versions added periodically, these numbers are expected to grow even further.
Despite its popularity, ChatGPT sometimes falls short in delivering accurate information. Research has shown that it can present incorrect details as reliable facts.
Additionally, OpenAI is reportedly considering adding advertisements to the platform to cover its operational costs. According to OpenAI’s finance executive Sarah Friar, this could mark the first instance of ads being displayed in an AI tool.
It is speculated that OpenAI’s ad strategy will likely target free ChatGPT users. While the company already generates revenue through API subscriptions and ChatGPT Plus services, introducing ads for free users would diversify its income streams.
