Samsung’s next major interface update, One UI 8.5, is expected to be introduced alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January. However, thanks to an early leaked software build, the exciting new feature this update will bring, called AI-powered notification summaries, has already been revealed. Here are the details.
What’s New in One UI 8.5
This new feature, included in the leaked One UI 8.5 build, aims to radically change the way users manage notifications. While the feature isn’t yet live, its functionality is quite clear. AI will save you time by summarizing the content of your incoming notifications.
When the user first pulls down the notification panel, a pop-up will appear explaining the feature. Users can choose to enable it immediately or postpone it in the settings.
In the Settings menu, you can choose which apps are excluded from the notification summary. At the time of the leak, this feature is still in development, but users are expected to be able to easily remove any apps from the summary list in the final version.
In addition to AI capabilities, the One UI 8.5 update also brings a hardware shortcut that will streamline the user experience. A feature previously only available on Samsung devices through the Good Lock app is now integrated directly into the interface. You can perform a preset action or launch an app by double-tapping the phone’s back.
These new features are expected to be official at the launch of the Galaxy S26 series flagship alongside One UI 8.5. Samsung’s efforts to integrate AI more deeply into its software appear to make user interaction with the phone more efficient.
