Google launches Nearby Share technology

Nearby Share, which appeared at CES 2022, appeared as a beta version after a year break. The technology, which is only available for Windows operating system for now, is expected to be activated for Linux and macOS soon.

A 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system is required for the new technology to work. The technology, which does not yet support ARM-based devices, is expected to come to Raspberry Pi-like devices.

For Nearby Share to work, you must have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on your device. The company announced that the devices must be within 5 m to use Nearby Share technology. It is worth noting that files sent through Nearby Share are protected by end-to-end encryption.

To use Nearby Share technology, you can download the Windows installation file by clicking here. It is worth noting that this feature works only on Android 6 and above.

As with the Nearby Share feature in Android, you can make your computer visible to everyone, only to people, your devices. When using Nearby Share technology, there is a window where you drag files to send or receive files to other devices. You can easily share files from your computer or phone by dragging them to the pop-up window.
